Room Correction Process using the ARC2 System by IK Multimedia
Well after turning off my furnace, fluorescent ceiling lights, I began the process of measuring the sonic deficiencies in my room using the ARC2 System by Ik Multimedia. This is driving me nuts. Now I have to take a deep breath and understand what is going on now, when it comes to mixing. I guess what I was looking at was the flaws in my room based upon the BEFORE curve. I am assuming my goal is use the flat target curve as my new baseline and just forget about what I see in the ARC correction and mix as I hear it and maybe to what my spectra graph is showing. See all the thoughts running through my head now… LOL
The white line is the correction curve after the measurements were processed. The diagram below illustrates where I took the measurements based upon some suggested guidelines by IK multimedia using the supplied reference microphone.
This was pretty easy to do once I did one trial measuring pass to get the hang of the process. Therefore, I am going to take a series of measurements (then create profiles) over the next month to see if there is any variables over time, or maybe it’s my mild OCD kicking in. Either way this totally changes the game for me from this point forward.
